Giveaway: Free Spot in Falling For You
I have decided to giveaway one free spot in my upcoming art journal class, Falling For You! Lest you think that this course is only for those who are romantically inclined, please know that I mean this course as a celebration of all things Autumn, my favorite season. You'll get tips, tricks, videos, and all the art inspiration you can handle throughout this fall. Woohoo!
The class starts on September 15 and runs until December 1. You can work at your own pace and download the content to keep. While this class is seasonal, you'll find lots of inspiration that will keep you making art all year long.
Don't let the fact that this class is only $20 fool you into thinking this won't be an awesome class with tons of content! I've been planning this class for two months so I have lots of ideas about how to celebrate my favorite season and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you. And now you can win a free spot!
Already have a spot in the class? You can still enter to win a spot in the class for a friend!
You don't need to be a follower of my blog to enter!
All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment telling me what your favorite art journal technique is -- whether you love smearing on paint with a credit card, doodling with Sharpie poster-paint markers, or sketching in pencil, I wanna hear all about it! If you are brand new to art journals and don't have a favorite technique yet, tell me how you discovered art journals. (If you want to tell me a technique and how you discovered art journals -- sweet!)
For an extra entry, tweet about the Falling For You class to your friends.
Feel free to write whatever you'd like, but if you want a quick tweet, try this:

Hi Moira! I'm really new playing in my Art Journal, but was initially inspired by creative lenna (http://creativelenna.blogspot.com) who made some gorgeous [pages for the 2011 Sketchbook challenge, and also for Art Journal Day. I've joined in a bit but it's still early days for me. I'd love to win a place on your course!
ReplyDeleteI'm not on Twitter, but I'll blog about this giveaway tomorrow.
xx
Oh how exciting!! I hope I win! Heeheehee. In my art journals, I like to use masks. This weekend my goal is to put my gesso on a few pages, smear paint with my fingers, big brushes or a card, then use masks and spray water....then wipe overtopping with baby wipes. All of this takes what I love to do and takes it one step further, so I am jumping up and down waiting for the weekend to play on my pages with LAYERED BACKGROUNDS! Happy weekend to you, kath
ReplyDeleteoh, autumn is my absolute favorite season! i'm a pen ho, so my favorite technique is working with pens, either drawing or creative lettering! i discovered art journaling through magazine issues of http://www.stampington.com/somersetstudio/
ReplyDeleteart books that i found at craft & bookstores like
http://www.stampington.com/html/true_colors.html
http://www.amazon.com/000-Artist-Journal-Pages-Inspirations/dp/1592534120

How exciting, Moira...your class AND your giveaway! My go-to journal technique is collage. I spend such a ridiculous (and fabulous) amount of time hunting down images and cutting them out from magazines and catalogs, and then arranging them to make my pages. That's the fun, fun, fun for me! (I don't do Twitter, so this will have to do it for me!)
ReplyDeletei am already signed up for your class and anxiously waiting for it to begin! my favorite technique is drawing with a pencil and then painting it in with cheap craft paint. nothing special but it definitely makes the page unique.
ReplyDeleteDear Moira, I am so excited about the class - no matter what I have to pay for it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite AJ technique is stickers. Whether I make a collage from Anthropologie pages, or use acrylic paint and a stamp, chances are, if I'm the one doing it, there will be stickers!!
I just used the "wanna win" tweet on twitter (I'm simplytrece). This gives me two (2!!) chances to win a FREE spot in this awesome class!!

ReplyDeleteHere is my tweet
my favorite technique is drawing with my fountain pen
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win a spot! My favorite technique is probably anything with acrylic paint, especially using found objects and handcarved stamps to print in acrylic paint!
ReplyDeleteHey! I'd love a chance to win. my favorite art journaling technique is using watercolors to make backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, would be lovely to win, but hey, it's pretty reasonable price, anyway. I've tweeted about this, too. hgoldsmith@gmail.com ;-)
ReplyDeleteOops, forgot to mention my fsvourite art journal technique. Lol. I do love the effect of scraping paint over the page, but also adore working with watercolour crayons on a damp page. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh I hope I win! My favorite technique is to print out photos on matte paper and then journal directly on the images.
ReplyDeleteWould love a fall class to push me to journal more...I love to collage my backgrounds and to use loads of paints. Just started uing pan pastels and learning the ins and outs of them. Just tried to tweet and twitter is "overloaded"...lol Have a wonderful holiday weekend. Fondly, Roberta
ReplyDeleteI would like to win your awesome class! My fave technique in my journal is just a simple .38mm black pen.... just doodling!

Your class sounds really awesome! I'd love a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite things is using a brayer or scrapper to drag paint across the page, but I love using my watercolor crayons.
Love to paint over items I no longer want to see,too easy, thanks for chance to win,
ReplyDeleteCheers,Tilly
What a wonderful opportunity! I have SO many "favorite" techniques...but I think right now my fave is image transfers! Well, that and using my Caran D'Ache watercolor crayons and Inktense pencils. I *love* all things watercolor. OH - and of course, my Color Wash sprays. See? Hard to choose ONE favorite! LOL Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI also tweeted about the class - here's the link to my tweet - http://twitter.com/#!/JenClark74/status/110058625443180545. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful give away! I am new to AJ and am LOVING it! So far smearing colors is my favorite thong to do; blending colors of acrylic paint, water soluble crayons and oil pastels with my fingers makes me happy! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMoira, I am so glad that somebody is finally offering a reasonably priced online journal class. I get excited when I see classes posted and the depressed when I see the cost. Thank You! I have been art journaling for a little over a year and find that I return to my oil pastels time and time again for their variety of colors and their easy blending qualities. It doesn't matter what kind of paper the results are the same.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd love to win a spot in this workshop, but I'm glad it's affordable (just in case luck isn't with me this time)! :D My favorite journal technique is using citrisolv to make awesome backgrounds, gluing them down and tracing over the original outline images with india ink and a calligraphy pen, then journaling around it with colored acrylic inks.
ReplyDeleteHow fun - I would love to win! I just got the email from artjournaling.ning about the class, and it sounds absolutely fab. I have to admit that my art journaling has fallen by the wayside lately, what with getting my son off to college (freshman year). So now I'm an empty-nester ... which means more free time for journaling - yay! Some of my fav techniques from the past have been collage with found images and odd quotes, along with acrylic paints.
ReplyDeleteI love chances to win something...especially a kewl class like this!
ReplyDeleteOne of my most used techniques is basically painting the page with acrylic, pastels or watercolor....with a few words, collage and some stamping! I need to get outta my box!!!!
hmmm...my favourite technique??? I gotta pick just one?? okay, I would have to say layering. I love the look of layering. Your class looks awesome, btw. I would love to win a spot.
ReplyDeleteHi, my favorite journal technique is I guess 3D. I like to use paper punches, tags, fabric and stensil to make it pop. This fall is going to be busy and i hope to keep a journal of it. my son bday, state fair, and halloween which I just love are coming up and would love to document it!!
ReplyDeleteI tweeted!!! Yay :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still pretty new to art journaling, so it feels like I'm discovering a new "favorite" technique every couple weeks! The newest is coloring with watercolor crayons, then activating them by dipping my fingertips in water and smudging. I like the streaky texture this leaves, and it's just a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteHi, Love art journals and been taking few classes and following blogs to learn. So far I love the Watercolor crayons, easy to take anywhere. Still struggling with the writting. Need prompts
ReplyDeleteHow very cool that you're doing this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI tend to have favourites for a while and then move onto something else that I think is my Absolute Favourite only to find something completely new a few weeks later.
Currently I'm in love with doodling patterns and colouring them in, but right before that I was smearing paints with an old gift card and then trying to find 'something' in there. A face, a shape. I'd outline it with white and then use charcoal to black out the background so you're left with the face. Loved it and who knows, might end up back loving it.
umm, OH yes I wanta win!
ReplyDeleteMy fav tech is the simple Credit Card acrylic paint scrapping / layering over gesso.
I am still a newbie :) but have new sprays so stencils and sprays are my new best technique along with practicing doodle art with my pitt pens and also my new prismacolor pencils:) I love it all, my next thing to try is more layering with collage, papers, diecuts, material etc. I already signed up and I'm excited about this class! Waiting is hard lol
ReplyDeleteHey Moira, I am new to art journaling but I've come to love it. I haven't gotten to do as much of it as I'd like but I'd love to be a part of your course. I'm finding so much inspiration and support from the Art Journal Ning site. That's how I found you. I found art journaling from YouTube videos. I use to love art in school and then fell out of creating when I went to college, now that I've found it again I'm in love again. So far I've enjoyed laying the backgrounds for my pages. Thanks for the chance to win a spot.
ReplyDeleteI am relatively new to art journaling and would love a seat in your class
ReplyDeleteI love using Watercolor Crayons and blending them with glazing fluid rather than water for bright beautiful backgrounds in my Art Journal.
ReplyDeleteI've now popped your class on my sidebar!

I copied Joanna - you're in my sidebar, too!! http://simplytrece.wordpress.com!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the starting blocks with art journalling. i really want to do it... like REALLY want to but there is this barrier that I can'ts seem to get over. I'm ok with doing the backgrounds and I love smearing paint with my credit (well., QVC actually) card and using old packaging as stencils. It's the journalling, I just cannot get over that barrier.
ReplyDeleteI found you via Jo's sidebar linky. Thanks for the chance to win.
Tweeted http://twitter.com/#!/craftywhoopidoo/status/112650774386974720 and will also nick Jo's sidebar idea ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone!
Hi Moira, would love a chance to win a spot on your course! Only been art journalling for 18 months and seem to have a new fav technique every few weeks as I love learning new things. At the moment I am doodleing a lot and colouring them with watercolours, my all time fav, I think, is layering paints to make backgrounds, with a finger, credit card, wipe or brush! Thanks for the chance to win x
ReplyDeleteHi Moira! I found you via Ady at Dolldreams! I would love to win a spot in your new class! I've been art journaling for nearly or over ten years by the looks of the dates on my Somerset and Stampington magazines and products. I've never gone beyond being a beginner since I've only recently started adding my own drawings and such to pages. My favorite technique is to find ephemera from my daily life and incorporate it into the day that I'm journaling. That way I can go back and enjoy looking at pages for inspiration and find that I have something tangible that brings the day back for me! With that I use watercolors for my backgrounds and I do some in advance - leaving me with trying to fit an orange day on a blue/purple background, but that's half the fun! Thanks for the great blog and *fingers crossed* hope to be included in the class! Brightest Blessings, Morgan (aka M. Belinda Watson): algolmorgan@hotmail.com and belinda.watson@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteI love watercolor backgrounds. I can sit and just make backgrounds for hours! I also really like to stitch things to my pages like buttons or yarn.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted the contest! @thecraftykitten
ReplyDeleteI love using Dylusions spray inks, drying the page and then spraying water through stencils which takes out some of the colour.
